A lesson in Superhero strength

Obki and friends teach local children how to be superheroes by helping our planet.

Earlier this month, Obki joined local children at SuStudio Sandbanks for a lesson in Superhero strength and, along with Yoga Teacher, Catherine Baxendale, demonstrated how small changes can make a big difference to our planet.

Obki was on hand to meet the budding superheroes as they arrived, handing out eco-friendly Obki t-shirts (made from bamboo) before sitting down with them to watch ‘Slime Time’ – an episode of Obki from Season 3 where three clever little snails teach us how important it is to create insect-friendly gardens, helping us to support biodiversity and grow healthy food.

The youngsters and Obki then took part in an exercise class, which promotes one of Obki’s key messages – to get active and have fun with friends!

After some yoga-inspired stretching, the children joined in a fun game which helped them learn which types of rubbish can be recycled and which types will end up in landfill – showing them that, wherever possible, it’s always best to use recyclable products.

Finally, with the help of Obki’s friend, and inspired by the ‘Slime Time’ snails, the young superheroes stepped outside and planted a selection of seeds in specially designed tubs which they will be encouraged to water every time they visit SuStudio. Obki’s friend explained that helping the seeds grow into plants may seem like a small action towards helping our planet but it demonstrates superhero strength!

Obki and friends would like to thank Jacki Moxey and the team at @Sustudio.Sandbanks for hosting the event.

Obki landed in Poole!

 for our beach clean up

As seen on Sky Kids and NOW, Obki is a lovable eco-alien who’s on a mission to save our planet. His first stop on Earth was Branksome Chine in Poole on 24th June 2023. His mission was to help clean up our local beaches.

He loved meeting you all and thought you all did an out-of-this-world job. Look at our photos and videos to see how much fun we had!

If you didn’t make it this time, don’t worry, you’ll have another chance to join him on his mission. Please keep checking back on this page for updates or contact us to be kept up-to-date.

See you soon!
